Home
It is a spacious lab adequately equipped with a variety of models, specimen , working material and display charts to enhance complete understanding of the subject and satisfy inquisitive minds of the children.
  • Models - Models related to different variety of organisms, their life -cycle, different systems of body e.g. digestive system, heart etc. are there. Models showing cell - division are also there (list enclosed.)
  • Specimen - Preserved specimen of living organisms, dissected animals exhibiting internal systems. Variety of plants are there to develop clear perception about the subject matter. (List encl.)
  • Charts - Brightly coloured charts as per current CBSE Syllabus are displayed and used as teaching aids (List enclosed).
  • Working Material - To enhance the inherent scientific ideas working materials have great role. We prepare slides and study samples e.g. slide of spirogyra, stomata, apparatus, thigh muscles of cockroach. The lab is adequately supplied with working material.
  • Chemicals and stains - Stains like safranine solution, Leisman's stain are need to prepare slides. Various types of chemicals like acetic acid, iodine are needed to perform various stains. A no. of such chemicals and stains are required for physiological experiments are available in the lab.
  • For regular class work and practical no. of test tubes, beakers slides and over slips etc. are there.

  • The setting of Biotechnology laboratory was a boom for DPS, Vindhyanagar.
  • This lab was set up in the year 2006, with very few equipments and devices like microscopes, Incubator etc.
  • The first batch of Biotechnology in XII passed out in the year 2007.After CBSE approval in the year 2006, CBSE based experiments were conducted based on syllabus.
  • For conducting these experiments, many kinds of equipments were purchased with an ultimate cost of 5-7 lakhs.
  • Devices like:
    • Laminar Air Flow - For providing germ free environment for the experiments.
    • Autoclave - For wet sterilization
    • Hot Air Ovens - For dry sterilization
    • Incubators - For culturing micro organism
    • Ultra Centrifuge - For centrifugation
    • And many other devices had been purchased by the school.
    • The students were made to perform many hi-tech experiments which is dream only in specialized courses like Post Graduation. They isolated and identified DNA.
    • Could perform the Blood Sugar determination.
    • Even academically also, Biotechnology has marked its presence every year with most of the students securing 90% in this subject.
    • The introduction of this subject in '+2' level has enhanced their scope after schooling.
    • The students are taking up courses like Genetic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Bio Informatics, etc.
  • We update all the labs very frequently to bring about transformation in the classroom approach to scientific subjects by making them more interactive, practical and innovative.
    • Funds from NTPC/ VSTPS are available to care the needs of the laboratories.
    • Regular 5-S is carried out in our labs.  Well stocked, neat-tidy, meticulously arranged equipments are set up in an ambience of excellence and according to the standard of CBSE.
    • Sets of chemicals reagent, acids & salts are renewed in the labs.
    • The stock of apparatus like pipettes, burettes, beakers and other daily requirements are replenished every year.
    • Last year computer labs have been renovated. This lab is focusing on mental ability, logical & analytical reasoning in computer application and IT.
    • Labs have been painted, renovated and fitted with appropriate models & informative charts on Display boards.
    • Last year DPS Vindhyanagar management introduced Biotechnology in our school which is latest and in demand subject.  Advanced equipments & apparatus have given opportunity to the students to explore them-selves into a new era.
    • These labs successfully celebrated the “No poly bags day”, “No cracker on Diwali” with the support of all students & teachers of DPS last year.
    • Environmental Science lab makes the students aware about the world around grave situation posed by pollution & environmental activities being carried out.
    • Internal assessment - for regular qualitative & quantitative analysis Students are encouraged to make models, charts, projects, project file & scrap book related to the concerned topics.
  • Huge laboratory perfectly suits goals of the department and can comfortably accommodate about 50 students and furnishes experimental needs in terms of connecting with theoretical goals. Laboratory is equipped with good enough chemicals and elementary apparatus like kip’s apparatus, condensers, various flasks, burettes. Pipettes, beakers, conical flasks etc.
  • Students from class VII – XII come regularly to laboratory and fulfill their practical aspirations. In addition to usual benefits, special services and time is provided to students who intend to observe their unusual learning.
  • Chemistry department of DPS Vindhyanagar carries 75 charts, 20 models and large number of sophisticated equipments in the laboratory whose list is attached.
  • Laboratory equipments and chemicals of worth Rs. 50000/- were purchased during the session 2009-10 & 2010-11.
  • Chemicals and equipments for various experiments are made available in the laboratory.
  • The same facility is extended from class VI to VIII and from IX to XII.
  • Lab is available for the students in working hours from 7.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.  and after school hours from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. depending upon the  need and demand of the students.
  • Special classes were conducted  for students  to generate interest for competitions like chemistry Olympiad, NTSE etc.
  • Students are taken to the filed for nurturing  their practical knowledge on the subject.
  • Students taken to nearby coal mine project for self study of samples of coal.
  • Seminars and symposiums were conducted from time to time.
  • Experiments beyond CBSE syllabus based on real life situations are allowed in the laboratory to generate interest on the subject.
  • Allowing  students to use Kipp’s apparatus to prepare  hydrogen sulphide gas for different experiments.
  • Electronic balance and chromatography columns were provided
  • Science exhibition  were conducted during winter season . 15 students were participated in various chemical experiments .
  • Chemistry department has conducted  extra classes in chemistry for slow learners during early morning hours.

    • Ball and stick arrangement showing tetra-valency of carbon and its valencies.
    • Charts related to the preparation of Sodium Bicarbonate Bleaching powder, Plaster of Paris, cement, glass etc.
    • Charts to show the preparation of gases H2, N2, O2, CH4.
    • Colourful and informative charts related to show the models of atom, valency, and periodic table.
  • Geography lab is a necessary part of school education. It is one of the six labs existing in most of the CBSE affiliated schools.
  • Importance of this lab is because it houses a good no. of charts, models and other equipment which is necessary to understand the subject at the school level by students.
  • The teaching aid which is in Geo Lab are as follows: -
    • Big Board charts – 12 no. depicting continents interior of earth and other natural Phenomenon.
    • Weather related instruments – wind wave, thermometer, rain gange etc.
    • Geographical 3D Model – 54 nos. showing various land forms of the earth.
    • Survey items – chain tape, plains type & prismatic compass
  • The geography lab is well equipped to conduct the practical for classes XI & XII.
  • Achievements:
    • Class X cent percent result
    • 50 out of 166 students got A1 Grade
    • We have successfully implemented CCE in Social Science. The students were assessed the newly implemented pattern of exam ie projects MCQ, Debates etc.
    • Large no. of exhibits was exhibits were exhibited by the students of class VI – VIII in the Go Green exhibition to sensitize people & create awareness and was appreciated.
  • Disaster management is a regular feature of education. Through discussion the students are prepared to take achieve role at the time of crisis; assignment and projects are assigned to create awareness among students.
    • Fire fighting demonstration was done by CISF
    • Students of Class X were assessed through activity and preparedness on Disaster Management
  • The activity is being conducted related to class VI – X
    • Collage making is done by students on environment issue i.e. “save tiger campaign”
    • Students are introduced to different types of map making technique & projections
    • They are exposed to weather symbols 2 conventional sign.
    • They are encouraged to go through their atlas
    • Environmental quiz is being conducted
    • Through debate and group discussion students are exposed to environmental issues and students express their views about solutions to the problem
    • Disaster management technique are taught
    • Fire drill (mock drill) was demonstrated by CISF fire wing.
  • Facility extended
    • The students are encourage to make projects in the form of power point presentation to multi media
    • Topic like wildlife preservation, forest conservation, water conservation is taken to create awareness.
    • Students are exposed to artificial condition to develop there response how to they cope in the condition. They are taken to hospital for forest aid technique.

  • Environmental studies at a primary level aids to empower the young minds with the aptitude of science as well as environmental sensitivity.
  • It is a unique effort to aid children in constructing knowledge by being actively participating in teaching learning process.
  • Being able to link new learning with one’s own experience and observations helps to make learning a personal experience that children would better understand, remember, recall, recognize and use.

  • Physics is a Natural science to explore physical law gifted by the Nature. Department of Physics of DPS Vindhyanagar endeavours to reveal the secrets of the physical law for convenience in leading life practically using demonstrational experiments.
  • Outstanding achievement
    • More than ten students qualified for IIT, and a number of students qualified for different esteemed technical colleges.
    • 18 students got more than 90% in Physics.
    • In class X, 42 student got A1 grade in science.
    • The class average is 74.89% with 55.22% distinction in Physics.
    • Qualified for the first phase of International Physics Olympiad.
    • Mr. S.N.Ganguly , E.D. NTPC Vindhyachal visited the Physics Laboratory and took decision for its maintenance through C&I Dept. NTPC.
  • As per the CCE system it is the integral part of the curriculum so activity & project works are always displayed on the regular basis, these are as follows:-
    • Conversion of heat energy of sunlight to the mechanical energy to pump water.
    • Generation of electricity from different chemical reactions.
    • Water treatment plant.
    • Demonstration of polarization of light.
    • Making bricks by the waste material like ash, polythene and sand.
    • Making of strong electromagnets to separate the metallic object from junkyard.
    • Use of solenoid to have variety of magnetic field for the different purposes at different places.
    • Generation of electricity by friction using van de Graff generator.
    • Project on harvesting the rain water for different purposes.
  • Activity Performed by students: There are many activities performed by students. Few of the significant ones are :
    • A very attractive demonstration of total internal refraction explaining the natural phenomenon like mirage, looming etc.
    • Production of circular magnetic using toroid.
    • Application of surface tension in our daily life i.e. Use of pouring oil on the accumulated water to avoid mosquitoes and insects, etc.
    • Application of Photodiode as the AC voltage detector, electronic counter etc.
    • Fringe produced by diffraction of interference of light wave.
  • Initiative to inculcate interest in learning and Scientific temperament among students:-
    • Remedial classes for slow learners.
    • For every topic special discussion is made.
    • Activity based discussions with demonstration.
    • Assignment on each topic.
    • Project on current topics.
  • Physics Department has its own library to provide to the student on different topics. This Department has more than 100 books on different topics.
  • Department of Physics recently organized a special seminar to revise the taught topics in the class with the help of power point presentation. This expt. With the new method was highly successful to inculcate the interest.
  • The topic on which the seminar held was:
    • Magnetic effect of current
    • Alternating current
    • Use of Kirchoff’s law
    • List of models made by students during session 2009-10 = 28
    • Model available at present = 32
    • List of equipments available in Physics Laboratory = 132
  • Mathematics is to science what grammar is to English. We cannot make sense of the physical world without a sound knowledge of Maths. It is the very essence of science.
  • It is being felt that one of the major problems in Academics is fear of Mathematics. It is due to the low level of anxiety, as the activity of Mathematics learning is not systematic. We tried to systematize the learning process so that students enjoy being in touch with Mathematics.
  • The students are taken to the Maths lab periodically where a number of activities are conducted to make the learning process so simple and interesting.
  • Models on Abacus, Shapes, Weighing Machines, and Cans to measure capacity are there in the lab to make the respective concept very clear.
  • Many charts and pictures showing addition, skip counting, multiplication, before, after and between, divisions, and place value are used to make the different aspects of Mathematics imprinted in their young minds.
